Ed Research Group is an association of independent researchers who work together on projects that require their expertise. Ed Research Group’s consultants have worked on diverse projects in the United States and they have a broad range of skills and experience in evaluation and policy research. The founder and director of Ed Research Group is Diane H. Steinberg, Ph.D., who graduated from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Education and Stanford University.

Director

Diane H. Steinberg holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of California at Berkeley, specializing in educational policy research, and a M.A. in Education from Stanford University with a concentration on the development and evaluation of educational programs. She also has a B.A. with Honors in Psychology from Stanford University.

Dr. Steinberg has over fifteen years of work experience in the field of educational research and evaluation, and has served as Principal Investigator for four federally funded Teaching American History program evaluations. She has also collaborated with non-profit and state agencies on research studies that evaluated education policies and programs such as the California Immediate Intervention/Underperforming Schools Program, the San Francisco Unified School District Consent Decree, and the California Transportation Demand Management Mathematics Curriculum Project. While serving as a Senior Researcher for the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing at UCLA, Dr. Steinberg conducted a large experimental research study that analyzed the effects of standards-based writing instruction on writing assessment scores of 1300 ninth-grade students in six urban schools.

Dr. Steinberg has particular expertise in design and implementation of experimental and quasi-experimental studies in educational settings. Through her extensive work with teachers, administrators, and students while conducting formative and summative evaluations using various data collection methods, she has developed a thorough understanding and respect for the K-12 and higher education environment.
